The blog posts on this page will provide you with a weekly schedule for homework, projects, and assignments. On the left side of the page you will find links to blogs for each unit. On those sites you will get more specific information about current and upcoming projects.

If you have any questions about using this blog, or if you would like your student to bring home a hard copy at the end of every week, just send me a quick email at naylorm@seattleu.edu and let me know what I can do to help.

I've Been Bad About Posting...I Know

I'm so sorry. I told you I would be better about posting once school ended for me, but I have not come through on that promise. I've been very busy searching for a job and still am not having much luck. Partly this is due to there simply not being very many open teaching jobs out there this year, but partly it's because I was so spoiled working with you all that I have very high expectations about where and what I want to teach. I'm still hopeful that something great will come about in the next few weeks, but if not, maybe Seattle will hire me as a substitute and then I will be able to come see all of you in your different schools! On that note, I'd love to know where you are all going to be this fall. I know there's a large number of you at Hamilton, but I'm curious what other schools our amazing class will be represented in. I've been looking for jobs in Seattle and actually have applied to two K-8 schools (one was wrongly posted and the other I'm waiting on), but I don't think any of you will be there anyway...Jane Addams K-8? Anyway, comment back, let me know where you'll be and maybe, just maybe I'll end up at your school either as a full-time teacher or sub. Cheers, and happy last few weeks of summer to you all. Middle school is ALMOST here!! Be excited, not scared...middle school is a GREAT time in your life (even if there are ups and downs, as there are in all parts of your life)!!

  1. Omg, so let me just tell you what up with my life. 1st of all: U MADE A NEW POST!!!!!! HOORAY! I knew it!!!!!! 2nd of all: I got into wait for it, wait for it: Syhmphonic band! (Here we go w/ the spelling again...) It's going 2 b so much fun. When I auditioned for my school i totaly messed the whole thing. To make things worse, when the teacher said that i got into the 8th grade band i cryed like a baby. I had practeced it over and over again, i was going to go "Really???" then he'd say "yes, i think you can do it." then my smile would grow so it would tikkle the insides of his hart. But no, I just ended up going like "Really???" my eyes were watery. "Yes, I think your up for it." The tears in my eyes couldn't stay put 4ever. They started streaming down my checks, and falling onto the grown, as if it were rain. "Let's go tell your mother." I kept crying, so he's like "Why don't you walk around and cool off." So I went around the corner and jumped around. Boy, was the embarrising or what!!! Btw, no way would I go to Jane Addams, I have spent my time in an Elementry school w/ little kids far longer than nesisary. Hey, who is Jane Addams anyway?

  2. no body. Everyone is either in Hamilton, Eckstein, McLure, Mercer, or Northwest. You are so lucky that you got into Symphonic band. I got into Cadette, and I wish I had done Choir instead, because I want to take private lessons. And guess what else, I haven't even gone school shopping.

  3. thanks, i would say that I *was* pretty lucky. I goofed up a bunch of notes. Thank god I told him I did harp!
We still have a month before school starts. But I'm having some school shopping trouble too. I mean, a binder w/ a ziper? I have one, but my brother had the same one last year. When he started, it was perfect, not even a scratch. When the year ended, it was ripped, broken, and had random ppl write random things on it. So, I'm not using it.

  5. Oh, and congrats Aeron...that's wonderful news! You worked hard and earned that, which is great! And Alexa, cadette will be lots of fun too, and you can always do choir in 7th or 8th grade too! As for school shopping, the longer you put it off the more it will feel like summer. Enjoy summer while you have it. Good luck with the start of school. If I don't end up with a job and have free time, I'll make sure to come visit you all!

  8. School rocks! It's so good to be back in the s ystum, even though my backpack weighs about 20 pounds! I can't wait until you visit! All my teachers are so diffrent from you, Ms. Nani, and Sr. Hester!
Btw, bands fine. It's a little stressfull to be in a room full of 7th and 8th graders, but it's still kina cool. I mean, I get a free period, wich no one else has (not homeroom.) It's cool though.

  9. OMG! I like stress out so much, just because it is so creepy being surrounded by older people. Me and shane were chating, and he said "I'm popular, I just don't know I am." So, I was like "really" But, I don't know if I am. Jazz Band is harder that cadette band. Just because. Aeron, I want to chat soon.
